“Rory! Please!” Amy’s voice called after him but Rory ignored it, throwing his hands up in frustration. “I hate this!”
Her yell trailed after him, but he just kept walking. For the first time ever, Rory Williams was walking away from Amy Williams - well, she’ll be back to being Amy Pond soon enough, he thought viciously - and not looking back. He loved Amy and he always would, but he’d had enough. After everything they’d been through, he had just wanted to move on with their lives but for some reason, Amy just kept holding on to the past. She was stuck in a stasis that Rory just couldn’t seem to break her from and it broke his heart. He didn’t blame her (after everything they’d been through, how could he?) but he just wished that things could have been different.
The only thing that had kept them going for a while were regular visits from River, but those had ended. They hadn’t even seen River in ages, not since the last time she’d been around, gushing about how the Doctor took her to see the singing towers in Darillium and how gorgeous the night had been; he missed her, his daughter, and so did Amy, and he knew the strain it was putting on them both.
A part of him wanted to resent the Doctor for everything, but he knew he couldn’t. After all, the Doctor had been a huge factor in getting him and Amy’s relationship to work. But the Doctor was gone and all they’d been left with now were the tattered remains of a broken relationship and the threat of divorce papers floating around them.
Rory stopped in his tracks, rubbing a hand over his face and sighing. Looking around, he saw pub near him and estimated that he’d walked at least five blocks without noticing. Sighing again, he pinched the bridge of his nose. He missed Amy already. Amy, his Amy, his wonderful, strong Amy - his wife, Amy. He’d calmed down some now, after that fight, and now all he wanted was to hold his wife in his arms. Every relationship had issues, he knew that. They had considerably more complicated ones than other people, of course, but he knew how strong they were. They could work through this. He wasn’t willing to give up yet. She was too precious for him to lose.
Turning to make his way back to their house (their home), Rory noticed a statue near him, one that he would swear wasn’t there before. It was an unusual statue, an angel covering its eyes. It irked him, for a reason he couldn’t name. Rory stared at it. The statue did nothing.
He blinked.
——-
When Rory didn’t come home that night, Amy cried. He’s left me, she thought. He left me and he didn’t even say goodbye.
